On 24th February, the leading trade magazine New Food featured an op-ed by ESSNA Chair Dr. Adam Carey on “Let’s talk sustainability for the sports nutrition sector”. In the article, Adam provided key insights on the main sustainability objectives and policy and regulatory developments that sports nutrition businesses should be focusing on in this area.
Specifically, it discussed topics such as energy transition, circular packaging, reduction of food waste, and efficient waste management. The article also touched upon the importance of sustainable and transparent sourcing of ingredients, as well as the role of insects and plant-based products, which gained more popularity in recent years. The article also discussed ESSNA’s work linked to the Sustainability Pledge, which will be published in the next few weeks.
