Informed Sport has again shown its commitment to excellence in the sports and active nutrition industry by sponsoring the European Specialist Sports Nutrition Awards (ESSNawards) 2021.
Returning for the third year, the ESSNawards is the only pan-European awards ceremony dedicated to the sports nutrition industry.
Despite a difficult 18 months for many business sectors, interest and uptake in sport and exercise increased significantly during the pandemic, with participation growing by 88% across the globe*.
With more and more consumers prioritising active lifestyles and relying on nutrition products to help achieve their goals, the ESSNawards will recognise and celebrate innovation and success in this booming sector.
The highly-anticipated ceremony on December 9, 2021, will bring together a wide range of guest speakers and judges to share their expertise, and inspire attendees through stories of best practice. They will look at the key issues affecting the industry and the most promising opportunities for the sector moving forward.
Informed Sport, part of international life sciences company LGC Group, is the only global certification and testing programme for the sports nutrition industry. Currently, there are ~1,300 unique products certified on the programme, with ~320 brands from across the world certifying products.
The Informed Sport mark gives athletes, and consumers, confidence that every batch of a certified product has been tested for substances banned in sport and produced to high quality standards.
Adam Carey, Chair of ESSNA, comments:
“We are delighted to welcome LGC and Informed Sport as sponsors of the ESSNawards 2021 – their support of our ceremony is a powerful indicator of the sustained growth, excellence and innovation that our sector continues to see. They are a crucial part of the sports nutrition industry and their dedication to quality assurance is key to driving the sector forward. I’m very much looking forward to working closely with LGC and Informed Sport on this year’s event.”
Terence O’Rorke, Business Development Manager at LGC, adds:
“This has been another turbulent year for many businesses, but it has also created a wealth of opportunities for the sports and active nutrition market. Lockdowns saw an increased number of consumers take up, and fall in love with, exercise – which in turn has created a whole new pool of potential consumers of sports nutrition products as they look to progress their fitness goals. The ESSNawards are the perfect opportunity for any brand, no matter their size, to showcase their offering.”
Delivered by the pan-European trade association ESSNA, a forum for discussion and a vehicle for action for the sports nutrition sector, in collaboration with leading political communications agency Whitehouse Communications, the ESSNawards gives brands, organisations and ambassadors in the sports nutrition industry an opportunity to gain recognition for their impressive contributions to the sector.
This year, new categories such as ‘Best Free-From Product’ have been added to reflect the changing and growing nature of the industry, as well as old favourites.
Previous ESSNawards welcomed hundreds of attendees from around the globe, who joined together for a celebration of the sports and active nutrition world. Previous winners include Protein Works, Healthspan Elite and Finzelberg.
