“The European Specialist Sports Nutrition Alliance is opening the doors to its virtual members meeting next month and inviting contributions from the entire industry on priorities for sports nutrition amid the Covid-19 pandemic”
ESSNA, which is the voice of the sports nutrition sector in Europe, is opening its normally closed meetings to non-members after a successful first edition in its second quarterly meeting of 2019. The aim is to offer the rest of the industry the opportunity to participate in ESSNA’s inner workings and to have an open discussion on the current situation linked to the Covid-19 global pandemic, among other topics.
Attendees will gather insights on the current developments at European level and will benefit from informative discussions led by experts on the topics of novel foods, food fraud, and anti-doping among others. The meeting will be followed by an exchange of views with Ms Luisella Ciani, Director of the European Food Forum, an independent, politically-led forum aimed to promote open dialogue on sustainable food systems. A virtual speed networking event with ESSNA’s Officers, members and other attendees is also scheduled and will conclude the meeting.
Dr Adam Carey, Chair of ESSNA commented:
“The current Covid-19 pandemic is undoubtedly having an impact on the sports nutrition sector and ESSNA is cooperating with European policymakers to ensure that the voice of the sports nutrition sector is heard throughout these difficult times. This is an invaluable opportunity for the wider industry to take part in a dynamic and engaging discussion with other industry peers to exchange ideas and put forward suggestions on a variety of subjects important to the sector today, as well as to have a glimpse of and feed into ESSNA’s work, aims and priorities on behalf of the industry.”
“While it is, of course, a challenge to conduct these meetings virtually, we are excited about continuing to fully adapt to the digital world and utilising technology at our disposal today to provide our members with the same engaging two-way discussions and networking opportunities as we always have. We also hope and very much look forward to welcoming some new faces at this meeting.”
All businesses in the sports nutrition industry are welcome and strongly encouraged to bring a guest from their industry contacts. The free to attend meeting is taking place on 18th May 2020 from 14:00 – 17:00 CET via Zoom and Hopin, and only has a few spaces remaining. Registration can be done online via this link. Links to the meetings will be sent to participants upon registration
