The European Specialist Sports Nutrition Alliance (ESSNA) has announced another expansion in its membership as Enervit, Stepan Lipid Nutrition and Prinova join Europe’s voice for the sports nutrition industry

Leading sports supplements providers Enervit, innovative ingredients’ manufacturers Stepan Lipid Nutrition and top sports nutrition suppliers Prinova become the latest companies to commit themselves to ESSNA’s core values of the highest safety standards and upholding EU regulations on the content and labelling of sports nutrition products.

The boost to ESSNA’s membership comes ahead of its upcoming inaugural global conference taking place in Brussels, which will centre on discussions around the future of the sports nutrition industry at a crucial time for the sector.

Dr Adam Carey, Chair of ESSNA, said:

“ESSNA is delighted to publicly welcome Enervit, Prinova and Stepan Lipid Nutrition to its membership. We are continuing to grow at a steady rate and I am pleased to see us attract companies with different expertise in the sports nutrition sector and from a range of different EU Member States.

We look forward to officially welcoming these three respected organisations, as well as updating our existing membership on our recent strands of work, at the conference in Brussels this upcoming September. We would encourage any other sports nutrition businesses who are interested in ESSNA and what we do to check our website, ESSNA.com, and join us at this event – but hurry, as spaces are limited and will soon be gone.”

Paolo Petroni, Regulatory and Scientific Affairs Director at Enervit said:

“Enervit is enthusiastic to join a group of companies, represented by ESSNA, which share the need for a balanced and proportionate legislation in order to support the existence of products for sports nutrition which are safe, effective, effectively marketed and communicated to consumers in a balanced and correct way. We think ESSNA, thanks to its skills, expertise, the high relevance of its associates and the diversity provided, is a perfect environment to achieve these common goals.”

Jaap Kluifhooft, Head of Regulatory &Scientific Affairs at Stepan said:

“The sports nutrition market is growing rapidly so for being successful it is important to have access to practical information and be able to share experiences, to avoid pitfalls in the legal/regulatory and scientific issues that are related to new product- and concept-developments.”

ESSNA is the voice of the sports nutrition industry in dialogue with regulators and policy makers and it campaigns in favour of proportionate EU legislation that does not adversely affect the industry. ESSNA also acts as a “police” to the industry by monitoring and reporting irresponsible companies which flout EU law and may put consumers at potential risk from dangerous products.

Tony Gay, Nutrition Sales Manager at Prinova Europe said:

“Prinova’s roots go back to 1978 and we have rapidly grown to become the leading global supplier to the nutrition industry. With an extensive range of ingredients and value-added services we are now considered a one-stop shop for manufacturers of nutritional products. We are delighted to become members of ESSNA, in an effort to become more engaged with the regulations within the sports nutrition industry.”
